Time to replace windshield V70-XC70 2000

The recent cold snap here has caused what used to be a small crack at the lower left to crawl halfway across the windshield, just in the past week. I'm guessing it's partly because of sudden heat applied by the defroster. This is the original glass.

I've checked BB AWD posts on the subject and there's not much there, and nothing in the last few years, that I can find anyway.

Pilkington windshield glass seemed to be the general recommendation from those previous posts. Anything changed since then? Researching where to find good replacement glass now.

In the northeast US, with no insurance for glass, we found the AAA had the best price for a V70 2004 windshield replacement, $245.00

Nothing has changed in the glass department. Check your insurance policy first. Then contact any reputable glass co and have them come to you with a new windshield. Don't wait for it to get really cold, the rubber seal does need to cure for a day and a little heat helps.
