2002 XC 70 Dead gauges, rough running, hesitation CEL Flashing V70-XC70 2002

I've gotten my hands on a XC 70, the Gauges are dead (DIM you can read with flash light I think) car runs rough, hesitates and the CEL flashes. I am guessing a fuse somewhere or the CEM Failed in some way. I've driven the car, it's not in my posession yet. waiting for it to be transported. What should I look for? Obviously the first thing I'd do is plug a OBDII reader on it to see what if any codes i can pull, any ones I should expect?
it's the 2.4l Turbo engine if that helps any

A flashing CEL means multiple misfires, obviously more than one coil is/has failed. Hopefully, not a headgasket issue, which would be rare, or a timing belt that broke and the owner just put on a new belt and ignored the bent valves.

The DIM or CEM has a problem. A very good code reader can tell you the difference. Xemodex will charge about $400 to repair each, with a larger heat sink. But I would check the electrical connections on the CEM first, they can come loose.

When you look for coils, don't forget Amazon.com or other reasonably cheap web sites.

Keeping it running is better than buying new
