Oil change interval - I'm at 5,500 oops V50

Well we got the 2007 V50 at the end of September and I thought that they changed the oil when we got it but from reading their windshield sticker and the mileage when we bought the car, it is not so.

This will be the first oil change and my best estimate is that there is @5,500 miles on the oil. Did thy use syn or dino? I do not know.

We won't be able to get an oil change until next weekend and will put another 300 miles on it.

The manual says oil changes every 7,500 --- therefore I feel we are withing a safe buffer.

Ya think?

I agree, use synthetic only. It keeps the engine cleaner. Wally World sells 5 quart jugs at a reasonable price. Your filter is just a paper insert, make sure you have a proper tool to take the cover off.

Keeping it running is better than buying new

I looked at the oil o the stick and it is not very dark so I am guessing it hasn't created much sludge.

Our S60 is a turbo and has run a lot of commute miles on a syn/blend. Now that I drive the S60 I think I'll go full syn. My driving habits are in traffic, stop and go while my wife's commute was 60 MPH highway.

I'm sure youre fine. The oil in our V70 usually looks pretty dark at 5000 miles so I change it then. If you have a turbo, use synthetic. If not, your choice, but the breather seems to stay cleaner with synthetic. It does not matter what the PO used (within reason...).
