Thinking of Buying 2000 Volvo X70 XC V70-XC70

Anyone have any advice on the 2000 Volvo X70 XC Wagon?
Looking at purchasing a used one with 155,000 miles.
Looks and runs good. Has the broken upper motor support rubber.
The transmission failure reports are what is worrying me.
Drives and shifts well, no apparent problems; however, I would like to service and change the transmission fluid. I have read online that after fluid changes is where some are experiencing problems. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas of additional things to check prior to my purchase, I would like your input.
Anyway, any information concerning this year and model, or close to it, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and reply.

It's a turbo, so it should have the more reliable 4 speed automatic.

At that mileage I would also look for oil leaks, check the AC, the front struts/suspension and operation of the electronics.

          Good luck,

I believe Herb is right. I think all of the turbos through MY 2000 have the older, bulletproof 4 speed automatic.

My 95 850 (same tranny as the MY 2000 turbos) has 249k on its original tranny with zero issues. Fingers crossed! :) So far, it has done better than the automatic in my old 240. When I sold that car at 300k it also had its original tranny, but suffered from a series of transmission leaks.

The big thing with the early XC's is the AWD system. Have that checked out. Maybe Klaus or someone else will chime in with more info.

I think the consensus here would be "keep looking!"
My sister bought an `01 new....transmission issues at 60K
