Intermittent alarm goes off with my own key or fob S60

Lately I have an intermittent alarm going off when I use my key or fob to open the trunk. Is there a procedure to reset the alarm or is there another problem?

I can assume that you do not have an alarm service message in the instrument cluster and the car is locked when you open the trunk? Has the alarm module ever been replaced? If not, the battery may be leaking and creating problems with the circuit board.

A new alarm module is expensive. I would just 'unlock' the car twice to open the trunk.

A great write up of the alarm module replacement:

Last night I was thinking about the battery. Maybe a good charge will solve the problem.

I'll check out the link but from some internet searches I did conclude the module is $$$expensive.

The car has 232,000 miles on it and we are not the original owners. I don't know if the module was ever replaced.

I do know that the car was in a bad accident at one time and the cars Title reflects the accident. It was the previous owner.

Who ever did the body work did a great job and it is impossible for your average eye to find anyplace that doesn't line up.

I can theorize that because of the accident there could be some ground point problems and maybe ground leaks.

If there was body work completed around the right front wheel well, they created an OEM looking replacement. The fender well cover is riveted back on to the car.

There is an issue with the drivers outside mirror. If the doors are unlocked with the fob, when you get in the car the mirror automatically goes out of position. I think they didn't use the correct mirror.

Several months ago we bought a new key and the dealer had to program through VIDA. The car has been doing it a lot more since the re-programming.

My first place to look will be the charge in the battery. The battery is about 2 years old.
