Boost controller vacuum line replacement 850 1996

I HATE spring clips, there is no easy way to grab all 3 prongs and compress them evenly to get the clamps on or off. Then, there is always the hidden ones that the factory puts on before the engine/body is assembled!

But, my 3 vacuum lines at the BCS are shot. They really need to be replaced. Is there an EASY way to replace the lines at the turbo?

I will probably be required to remove the intake air pipe to the turbo. Do I also need to remove the IC pipe from the turbo?

How do I get to the spring clip on the bottom of the waste gate? I almost need a mirror to even see it.

    Stupid spring clips 850 1995

There ought to be a law against using spring clips in places where they cannot be accessed. They probably put the vacuum lines on the turbo before they bolted the turbo to the exhaust.

The vacuum line with the problem is at the waste gate, below the turbo and only one hand can get down there. I can feel the 3 nibs of the clamp, I cannot see them as they are facing down and towards the firewall. Of course, using a pair of needlenose pliers means that I cannot 'feel' them catching any of the 3 prongs that need to be squeezed together.

Too late today for any more 'work'. So I get to think about it some. I wonder if I can turn the entire clamp up so that access will be better for pliers, without breaking off the brass nipple!

The new silicone lines will probably fit so snug that clips will not be needed. Lets hope so.

      Stupid spring clips - done 850 1995

I spent 1 hour this morning and another hour after lunch. It's off! Needle nose pliers in an impossible angle.

The new vacuum lines (red & yellow) were cut an inch longer than OE. I did have to clamp it, but at least I positioned the 3 nubs on top of the vacuum line so that it is easily accessed.

The dew point is over 70, so I am taking a break. Then to button up and take a test drive. At least the AC still works??
