Raw gas smell on startup 850 1994

i have noticed when the HVAC fan is left on and i start the car in the morning, there is a very strong smell of raw gas coming through the vents. I have opened the hood and checked all the fuel lines and connections and cannot see any fuel leaking. where else could this whiff of raw gas come from?

The cabin blower should never be turned to the off position, except when it is below zero and you want the engine to warm up before the blower starts up.

Yes, check the vacuum line for the fuel pressure regulator, it is the white one that goes to the vacuum tree. If there is gasoline in it before starting the engine, the FPR needs to be replaced. When my 1994 had that problem, it was difficult to start and immediately after start, there was a small cloud of black smoke coming out of the tail pipe. There are no codes for that.

Also check the fuel line connector at the rail with a paper towel, before engine start.
