high temp method to re-insulate wire at coil? V70-XC70 2007

Oil from the broken breather tube under the plug/coil cover seems to have caused a small section (1/4 inch) of the insulation on the wire to the coil to corrode and fall off. I was going to use shrink tube insulation but the temperature rating for the kind I found at Autozone and Oreillys is rated for a max of 257 degrees. I am thinking that it gets hotter than that on top of the engine/under the plastic cover.

Does anyone have an alternative, eg, high temp rtv?

FYI- After research online and in-stores, I decided the best course of action was this: 1. use shrink tube with the highest rated temperature rating (Dorman at 275 degrees) 2. then wrap that with silicone tape (rated at (500 degrees).

Also, The entire harness was not losing insulation, only 1/4 inch of each of the three wires going to one cyl where the hot oil touched them.

These shorted wires seem to have killed that one coil.

You could use hot glue, just a drop is needed. I have never liked that engine cover, especially when the small wires for the injectors and coil overs go under them.

On my 1998, I covered the injector wires in a split (lengthwise) vacuum line. You might want to do the same for the coil wiring.

I recommend that you get a new wire. Any fix that you rig could fail at a bad time, like in the middle of a big bridge on a rainy night.
