Died on road, now No start V70-XC70

2004 V70 standard.
Problem started yesterday. Normal driving at around 20 mph then wouldn't respond to throttle. It just stayed at idle speed. Pulled over, when I tried to increase throttle it died. It would start and stay same then wouldn't start.
Got tow home, tried again, no fuel pump noise. It had no codes. I cleared all codes (just had alarm siren , mirror, AQ sensor codes). Checked codes again got ECM261A fuel pump related.
Going out now to see again.
Any insight helpful.
cheers

The fix was the fuel pump module that varies fuel pump speed to maintain fuel rail pressure. Steel gas tank so no filter and the fuel pump is completely different than any of the right ups on BB that I've seen.

If you have a plastic tank, the fuel pump may be bad. But, check the recall first.

I'm in Canada and I believe it started it's life here.
My VADIS says I should have % VDC at #4 terminal on the fuel pressure sensor (on end of fuel rail) I have 5.72 VDC. I checked the FPS and it had around continuity between all terminals. I tried to start it again and it almost did.
It has 160K km or 100K miles. I'll check the recall but order a pump and FPR.
I have 2 of these and the other has more mileage.
      thanks

banged firmly on fuel tank bottom, now have fuel pump running at ignition turning, no fuel at rail, zero pressure (I have a gauge and check schrader valve) FP pressure control valve is not in spare tire well so VADIS says is with the gas tank. Checking that out now.

I checked the crank position sensor and it has 125 ohm open, it fluctuates when in proximity with metal. I guess it works.

What is the sequence for fuel to flow during the start cycle?

VADIS told me that the ECM261A code could be the result of a too larger fuel pressure differential which shuts down the fuel pump???
