gear shift lever very hard to move S60 2014

the automatic gear shift lever is at times, very difficult to move out of Drive. it takes a lot of my force. Other times its ok.
Anyone ever have a similar problem?

There was a problem with a piece of plastic at the base of the shift level breaking. It has a spring and is used when shifting manually. Reasonably 'easy' to fix after removing the shift boot, but removing /replacing the boot cover is not fun.

Keeping it running is better than buying new
