I found the source of the leak (2006 xc70) but not the reason. Water is leaking from the cabin filter chamber on the pass. side. If I were to open it up, a nice amt of water would exit. I originally thought it was the cowl drains, as this is what happened to my 850...I kept them clean, rain today in NY...water dripping from the cabin filter housing. Any ideas?

I am not familiar with your car but you need to remove the wiper arms, remove the plastic shroud and check 2 things.

1. You are going to have a drain on the 850 is on the passenger side next to the cabin filter.

2. The intake for cabin air has a plastic booth that tents to peel off with time.
You need to clean it and re-glue this transition booth. In the 850's with the cabin filter, the booth is below the filter for the cabin.

Before you put everything back, take a garden hose add some water and see if it drains properly.

I can't tell you exactly how to get to this area but know that my daughter's '04 XC90 and a cousin's 2005 S40 had interior leaks due to a connecting hose for the front sunroof drains. Apparently the hoses shrink with age and don't have enough length to stay put but instead pull away from the tubing. I think there may have been a service bulletin on the problem. -- Dave
