Roof stuck partially open C70 2008

I opened the roof part way in order to glue those 8 tabs that hold the back part of the headliner. After about 10 minutes of fiddling with the tabs and headliner I went to put the top down and it did not move. It does not go up or down. I checked for codes and there was not a code in the roof module. I did the livestream function and it indicates when I push the up or down button.

So I am open for suggestion as what to do next. I swear I only touched the headliner and now the roof does not move at all. It is stuck halfway open.

Roof stuck partially open C70 2008

Your error was trying to close the top after partially opening it. The system does not like that, it needs to go the entire cycle.

Try lowering the windows with the door switches, press and hold the top 'down' switch for about 30-45 seconds and see if the roof tries to fold back into the trunk.

Roof stuck partially open C70 2008

I rolled down the windows and held down the down button but after 45 seconds or so this message appeared:

"Roof Failure Service Required"

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

I assume the car cannot be driven. Did you try disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes in attempt to clear the module? Do NOT pull the emergency cable in the trunk, according to all online C70 drivers.

This is a dealer only repair.

FYI - I got it working again. I tried to jog the CRM brain by driving it a few feet until the warning chime started. But that did not do anything. Then I reached into the trunk and loosened the plastic divider. I started the engine and pushed the down button. The message about a loose divider appeared. I reached back into the trunk and closed the divider. Then I hit the down button. It started moving but only about halfway down. Then I hit the other button and it closed all the way. Then I hit the other button and it went all the way down this time.

Roof stuck partially open - resolved C70 2008

Good news! I was wracking my grey matter, trying to figure out how to get the computer to reset itself. Your list of diagnostics showed absolutely nothing wrong, but the computer would not respond.

Remember, this is as complicated as government health care! Even the engineers can't describe how the system functions to the techs at Volvo.

I suggest telling VCOA and any interested Volvo people how you resolved this problem. Include your page of diagnostics.

yes, I did disconnect the battery and waited an hour. It still does not move.

What else can I try?

Thanks.
