SRS Fault light XC90 2009

"SRS - Airbag Service Urgent." Are there any areas to scrutinize for disconnects etc before heading to my dealership. This system is well beyond my area of expertise for troubleshooting or maintenance.

I do not believe in working on that system, BUT on our '95 855 base, I did disconnect the passenger air bag when I tried to solve a battery drain by disconnecting the glove box light.

You could remove the glove box to take a peek at the wiring. I did it twice (The second time to reconnect the air bag and disconnect the proper wire!). It is not too difficult.

Update and closure on this thread - for the moment. On the off-chance that an SRS fault might result in a failure of the air bag system when/if needed, OR, a chance misfire on the road, I opted for a system read at my dealership. The scan threw two codes - one a hard fault in the front pax seat belt catch, the other a "plausibility" fault (there's a new one for me) on the clockspring. i elected to replace the seat belt catch - it was becoming difficult to manipulate anyway - and decided to hold off on the clockspring pending further fault indications. No further messages ref. SRS, so my comfort level is up several points. An expensive exercise, no question, but when you're driving a tank, you might as well have all the armor buttoned up, I say. Thanks to the contributors to this thread - y'all know how important that part of it is.
Garth.

Unless you get a VIDA/DICE code reader, or equivalent, you are stuck with going to a dealer. I suggest looking at a VOLVO iCarsoft i906 OBD2 Engine Vehicle Diagnostic Tool.

Did you do anything to the car before the message came on? Like pull the radio, remove a seat, swap batteries, etc?

Hey Klaus, thanks for stepping up. I haven't had time to crawl around in the cockpit yet - something just might have become undone - but there's been no work done (intentionally) which would have caused an electric or electronic hiccup. I've got a pretty good long-term relationship with a dealer here, so I'll go in with eyes open and fingers crossed. I'll post when/if I have more info to share.
