Turbocharger Failure? V70-XC70

What are some early indications of Turbocharger failure? I seem to have a new oil leak behind the engine, the oil pump was replaced 2 years ago. Car still drives normal with exception of the sloppy transmission rebuild by AAMCO three years ago. 2002 Volvo XC70, 237,000 miles, with regular service. Thanks, Jim

While the internal O rings do wear out, turbos seldom 'fail', nor do they 'leak' externally. The oil leak could be from the oil return line, from the turbo to the oil sump. Parts are less than $10, but getting to the two torx screws is a real pain on the AWD cars.

Thanks, that sure sounds like that could be my problem. I will keep a close check and just maybe can find someone who will be interested in working on the car. Again thanks. Jim b.
