Any good way to allow rear hatch to be opened from inside? 2006 V70. One could theoretically bore a hole above the mechanism and then merely install a push rod that will allow the hatch to open. Maybe there is a less obtrusive way?

The best way is to find a rear hatch from a car that has a third row seat, they have a door handle.

Of course, you could use one of the rear doors, so long as the 'child lock' is not engaged.

Boy thats a real pain if battery is disconnected, rear bay is full of parts removed from engine and someone closed the rear door.
Thats something you don't want to do.

I seem to remember the early 240's (1981) had a release to open the wagon lid
from inside and worked similar to Riverbend's comment below.

My 95 850 also has an interior trunk lid release. Came in handy once.....:)

I don't think anyone here has tried that. When you pull the inside panel off you should be able to see what you need to do to make an inside hatch release. Let us know what you do.

Yes I have had the panel off and noticed that it would be feasible to just push a rod down from above and the door will then open. Since this is just a camping-related use I may instead think about attaching a pull cord that can be pulled downward from the inside. It could just peek out from the bottom of the panel maybe(?) Who knows, maybe even fishing line would suffice for occasional use.
