how can I remove hu-650 radio from my 2006 v70? V70-XC70

I haven't found an exact tutorial so I started with some hints. I pried up the shifter trim so that it is loose. I did not totally remove it yet. This allowed me to remove the 2 T25 screws which than allow me to pull outward the entire assembly of radio and climate control but not fully. I am not sure what is next. Am I supposed to be able to just slide out the radio or do I really need to get the whole center assembly out? There are lots of clips I can see - maybe some will just release the radio?

Also, regarding the shifter trim. Am I supposed to completely get it out of the way by perhaps removing the shifter knob first? Thanks. Maybe this is super-easy if I just knew how?

Also - I disconnected the negative battery terminal. Do I need to worry about radio codes?

My goal is to install an aux input.

One more question: is there a faq for this car? Maybe I missed it?

Before you start, reconnect the battery and put the shift lever in "L", to give you more room. The battery must be disconnected for the duration!

Keeping it running is better than buying new

Thanks. I installed a Grom Audio interface and it works fine. I ended up working on the radio without fully extracting it. By pulling it out and rotating it I was able to push in the plug and tap into the hot wire. I ignored the ground and it still works. Sounds great!
