P2 Front Subframe Bushing Inserts V70-XC70

Three weeks ago I installed the poly bushing inserts which fill the voids in the front sub-frame bushings.
IPD's listing is found at: www.ipdusa.com/products/8969/120168-ipd-poly-subframe-bushing-insert-kit
They are sold by other firms too.

A surprisingly large measure of vagueness vanished from my front end and I recommend them.
Installing them is quite simple. You do one at a time.
A floor jack, one jack stand and a few wrenches is all you need. An electric impact wrench quickened the job.
The effect you feel is not as pronounced as installing new shocks or struts but it's not insignificant.
I recommend them.

Saying that, it's not an economically priced, easily done "must do" either.
If you're on a budget and need tires, shocks, brakes OR NEW BATTERY OR WIPER BLADES, get those items first.

I just wanted to tell people here. You've been super helpful in the past.

    More poly-same car V70-XC70

    Same kind of post.

This time I installed poly bushings in the engine's upper mount and cross-brace with much the same effect.

My cross brace flopped about meekly (without clunking though) and the rubber block in the upper mount (which had been replaced by the previous owner) was remarkably loose in the mount's frame.

The cross brace bushings insert from below and simply fill the air void in the stock bushings. They have the dimension of a short piece of 1.25" tubing with a shoulder.

The bushing for the top mount -a solid block- completely fills the frame.

The increase of "tight feeling" was less than that after the subframe bushing installation but along the same lines. The increase in vibration is minor but could be annoying to some.

My only regret was installing both elements at the same time. It would've been interesting to feel the effect of the stiffened cross brace before installing the top mount's rubber block.

As before, it was fun and effective but perform any real maintenance you need first.
