96 Turbo Wagon dead

All,
This has been my project car for the last couple years and now I just found bad news. Daughter said engine running rough and found that #3 cylinder not firing. Further investigation I found no compression. Others in the 145 to 150 psi range. Seems like burnt valve. Maybe a result of running lean for too long and getting hot. Don't have time to fix. Would somebody realistically buy this car and fix or is it to the scrap yard?
Has 200+k miles but ran strong up to end....

    Hi Dan,

Is that right 0 compression in nr 3 ? 0 sounds nasty.
Did you pour some oil in there to confirm ?

    If not

Pour some Marvel Mystery Oil in there and try the compression test again.

It's unlikely but not impossible that the rings are hung up and MMO can help free them with a several day soak

Yes you could have a valve or head gasket problem or even a hole burned in the piston. Dunno if you can get the Harbor Freight Boroscope in the cylinder to examine the piston.

Whats the coolant look like ?

I'd try a several day soak of MMO and try the compression test again.
    Nothing to lose.

    Bill

Sorry to hear the bad news. You know how much trouble is is to replace the head on these cars, and the expense involved. Parting out the car is not a lot of fun, depending on how much space you have to keep the shell. And the market for 850's is pretty bad these days.

You could remove the spark plug, unplug the injector for #3, and drive a 4 cylinder!!!

Yep, it will run on 4 cyl for sure, it even has ok power but rough. If there were only 36 hours in a day or didn't have to work I would fix it but alas that is not my lot. Thanks for all your help Klaus.
