Power folding Adventure V70-XC70 2006

For 2006 V70 in the city, power folding side mirrors would be a really welcomed retrofit upgrade. Having the Viva performance and Tasca options outside the budgetary comfort zone, ($400) I thought salvage through eBay might do the trick. But, having done a lot of searching with scattered and scant info to be had, I got a couple mirrors from a yard in Texas, they thought they were power folding, but were not, and nicely accepting return. Erie Vovo has a couple at the same price as Viva ($200 ea for used). Some help here would be great. Part of the other murkiness involves which years and models are compatible, which use console folding button, and which in door, which require VIDA programming or not, part numbers, and possible other sources for second hand budget. Other info shows fairly common and available in Europe, but not necessarily compatible here. Endless searching is getting tiring. Console button would be great with folding upon lock not needed, nor is camera, side signal, anti fog, etc even if possible. My current have heating and puddle light. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

While the folding mirrors would be nice, and no programming, the extra wiring with a relay and switch would be daunting for me.

My 'other' car has them and the switch is in the drivers door, same panel as the window switches. I could also program the mirrors to fold when the engine is off and stick out when the engine is turned on. I don't do the automagic thing as motors tend to wear out and cause problems later.

That's interesting. I had not seen anything about wiring, and had assumed that pre wiring was a pretty safe bet. Same with relay. Viva kit looks plug in, but they mention programming. I did already get a switch and installed it (a bit of a task) but there is nothing for it to talk to yet. Had seen info about programming through the OE radio, but I have aftermarket, so that's a problem. I forget what years your cars are. Does the door switch have the folding icon label? Is that '07 or above?

Interesting, I found no info on folding mirrors for the 2006-7 cars. Why would they be pre-wired?

This thread has a dude says pre wired on 07, but there's lot's about puddle lights. I'll try to wade through for the 3-4th time, to understand.

I thought pre wired was a pretty common thing for many items -not all of course.
Having another look, and various threads is still a help (needed plugin to retrieve hidden photos on swede site) and just discussing it helps -Volvo therapy.

How about that! You can order folding mirrors:

            http://www.vivaperformance.com/genuine-volvo-electric-folding-side-view-mirror-kit-s60-v70/

            Tasca also has them.

They will require software update according to the Viva notes.

Success! but a bit pricey. Got part #30716660 from Tasca $350. And had to go to a dealership for VIDA programming of button part #8633764 from Kundert in Englewood for $175. Here's the debrief -Tasca kit comes with console switch and a pair of 14 in. pigtail wires for inside the door if needed (mine was prewired) -I had purchased the button on eBay but didn't need to. -I tried salvage yards unsuccessfully, and -I tried a less expensive 2007 kit that was not right and had to be sent back. -The hardest part of the job was the console button install, (and the mistakes I made trying to be clever). Hope this helps someone
