Turbo Hose from MAF to Turbo Vacuum Question- P0103 Code 850 1994

I am having all sorts of issues chasing down a P0103 code. I have read every possible post. I have a couple of stupid questions... Be nice!

1. Is the insert that has the vacuum line, hose from breather and heating element in the hose from air box to turbo supposed to spin freely? It is in there but it can spin around. Wouldn't that let air in?

2. I did my PCV and my car only had two lower intake manifold bolts. Of course I dropped one and can't find it. Could that cause a significant vacuum leak if all of the top ones are tight and the bottom ones are not?

I did find a tear in the throttle body to IAC hose. I have ordered from Volvo $150.00!

Now my car starts fine and then dies in 20- seconds. I can force it to run with the pedal but it is misfiring. I suppose there is a big vacuum problem causing a lot of this.

I really appreciate everyone's help.

Turbo Hose from MAF to Turbo Vacuum Question- P0103 Code 850 1994

    Did you order this:
    http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/volvo,1994,850,2.4l+l5,1433977,fuel+&+air,idle+air+control+valve+hose,11202

The entire idle air control valve is less than $150. Call your dealer back and tell him you only want the hose!

Find the bottom manifold bolts and get the manifold tightened down. One you dropped could be between the starter and the block. They are needed to seal the intake as well as hold down the manifold.

The heated element (PCT valve) in the air intake should not freely slip. It can turn, but it is seated in rubber which will make it hard to wobble around.

Absolutely. Get all the bolts in place and snugged-up, then see where you stand.

I'm not familiar with 850's but is that $150 hose preformed in a shape that you can't use a piece of standard vacuum hose, or a preformed hose from another car (Chevy/Ford/Mopar) that bends the right way? Sometimes you can get a parts person at the local auto parts store that's a bit adventuresome and will search the shelves for something that will substitute for a fraction of the cost.
