My '98 v70 heats well, but only through the dashboard vents and the defroster/window; the floor heater doesn't seem to open. Any thoughts about getting it to do so would be much appreciated. Very cold feet on a long trip through Vt, NH, and Maine.

You will need to remove the passenger side kick panel and glovebox to fix this. I suspect the plastic shaft behind the blend door motor is cracked so the doors don't move.

The black motor is held in with 3 T15 screws. The shaft only turns 90degrees, and I suggest you set the vent control to defrost before removing/reinstalling the motor.

I glued the broken plastic back together and also clamped it before sliding the motor back on.
