Drying out carpet S80 2008

I found water in the front passenger footwell today, oh joy. Our mechanic/neighbor/friend across the street thinks the drain from the sunroof is the likely culprit, and blew them out for me; testing with a little water showed them draining happily out the bottom of the car.

Now we're faced with drying out the carpet and carpet pad up there. The snap-in pad is out, airing out on top of the clothesline. Our local dealer has a heated room just for this kind of work. Any suggestions are appreciated as to good places to dry out the carpet (we have no garage).

    Shop vac! S80 2008

A couple of days with one "wand" of the shop vacuum shoved under the carpet (hard to pry up: it's shaped to fit the space), running the vacuum on "blow," seems to have done it.

You could take the passenger side carpet out, but you are in California and the sun will come out and help. Once the pad is dry, put it in the trunk until the floor carpet is dry.

When your neighbor blew out the drain, did you notice any debris on the driveway? I only ask because if the fresh air intake, in front of the windshield, is full of crud, the water may have gone through the ducting and out near the cabin filter.
