Recommendation for seat covers? V70-XC70 1998

Driver's side seat leather is cracked and getting worse. Patching has done well, but losing the war. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced seat cover for these cars ('98-'00)? I found one at Costco (neoprene/wetsuit like material) that is inexpensive, but I haven't tried to fit it yet. Thanks

ok, I know this thread is now old but I finally got around to replacing the seat bottom on my daughter's v70. I had ordered the skin several months ago from Swedish auto lamps [ebay seller].

The skin was well made and the original colour which of course the rest of the 20 year old interior is now sunfaded so the new bottom is darker but correct.

The cover went on perfectly and the workmanship was very good matching the oem one nicely as for fit and finish.

From start to finish with proper hog rings, it took me about an hour including removal and reinstall in the car. total spend about $120.

Now, if I can just find a new back skin.

These are interesting seat covers - from mild to wild.

There is a seller on ebay for the seat bottom skin [new]. $120 or so [I have no relation]. I inquired with them if they would do a seat back skin but they stated due to the SIPS airbags it is too much liability. I have ordered one of the bottoms and will let you know how it is. I have replaced the bottom before. Not difficult but a little time consuming. Also I usually reinstall with proper hog rings as those zip ties will eventually get hard and fail.

I am waiting for my local P&P to get in a 1998 S/V70 so that I can buy the power passenger seat to put in my 850. After that is done, I will measure and see if I can get newer seat skins to fit the 98 seats.

I personally do not like seat covers. They tend to stretch, bunch up, and get ugly real fast.

You do realize that the passenger side lower leather is the same as the driver's side. Find a cheap seat at a P&P and take it home and swap the leather bottom. The top skin cannot be swapped because of the lumbar adjustment hole.

Is it possible to swap the entire seat bottom? I had looked into taking off the leather, but that involves more than my skill level. Had not thought of the possibility of the entire bottom.

It takes me about 90 minutes to replace the bottom seat skin, start to finish. But I have done this about a dozen times. The hardest part is cutting off the original hog clips without pulling the wire from the foam cushion.

Pulling off the entire bottom cushion requires a lot more work! The skin is attached to the frame and the backrest is attached to the bottom frame.

The seats are quite simple to remove from the car: 4 bolts, unplug wiring, lift out. Once out, start cutting hog clips, lots of them. Use zip ties to put it back together again. I use black plastic which is less visible.

Swapping the seat material is doable. Did it on my 240 years ago. It is very tedious but it isn't rocket science. Cutting off the hog rings and replacing them with zip ties will make the job quicker.

Not sure if entire seat bottom can be replaced on your car due to the seat controls. Sounds like Klaus thinks so.
