Metal adhesive on CV joint splines ? 850

That's what it says on page 8-5 of my Haynes manual. Outer CV joint if not obvious. Somewhere I recall reading about a locktite color for such a thing. Required? i did a wheel bearing 3 years ago and didn't use it but maybe I'm tearing up my splines. I'm in a point in a job where I have to think about buying this .

um, i found this on micromovement

I’m thinking the best protection against damaged splines is to keep the axle bolt properly torqued.

Personally I would not use any thing other than an anti-seize compound on axle shaft spines. I may be totally wrong on this and have often used Haynes manuals for guidance but have been working on FWD imports since 1973 and have never seen an adhesive used.
A while back I had a job doing wheel bearings on a V70. The left side slid apart as it should. The right side would not budge by hand pressure--then tried a proper heavy duty wheel puller--then a BFH--then removed the entire "knuckle"- axle and all and set in a press - no dice. Had to purchase a used hub and axle to complete the job. Just my 2 cents worth. -- Dave

Fun Youtube video of knuckle in press for removal 850

Similiar story -

It's always possible that the Volvo adhesive would also limit corrosion making removal easier in some situations.

of search youtube on 'Pressing a stuck CV axle out of a hub' is you don' like to click on links

Loctite responded 'Volvo 1161370 to be Loctite 638' 850 1995

They found that in a chart somewhere. I filled out a form on their website.

Audi has quite as set of nuts (pun?). Volvo parts availability for a 95 model is much better vs Audi. Past performance is no guarantee of the future.

I see was discussed HERE in 2003. https://www.brickboard.com/AWD/volvo/569348/850/metal_glue_axle_splines_necessary.html

chat included talk of what is called locktite GREEN.

On thing in my favor, I hardly drive at all, wouldn't even experience a lot of micro movement due to no movement.
