Parking brake quandry v70 2004 V70-XC70

Tried to repair my parking brake. Discovered parking brake, dust shield, etc had all been removed from passenger side rear wheel by prior owner. Protruding metal piece (that sits next to ebrake adjuster ) part of bearing housing or knuckle had sheared off. I think this makes installation of ebrake impossible w/o replacing bearing housing. Bearing housing is expensive and not simple to replace ($500+ new).

Problem is passing the state inspection.

Has anyone had this issue? How hard is it to replace bearing housing?

Thanks.

Call a few junk yards. Tell them you want the complete wheel assembly, minus the caliper. All you need to do is remove the center bolt and pull hard?

Klaus, that is an interesting idea. How difficult is it to replace the whole assembly? Has anyone done this or seen instructions or videos? Would appreciate some guidance. Thanks

You have to remove everything to replace the hub, look for those videos.

Time for a visit to the Pick-n-Pull.

Ask around. Maybe you can find an inspection station that will overlook the bad e-brake. Was able to do that on my old 850 after the RR emergency brake blew up and destroyed all the related parts. Emergency brake repairs on Volvos often seem to be expensive and difficult. Definitely not their strong point.
