Adding tow hitch and wiring V70-XC70 2008

2008 volvo xc70.
Getting a new hitch and harness from etrailer.com. should I be concerned with anything?
Volvo quoted me over 600 just for the wiring and 2 hours labor then stated that the harness has to be programmed to the car as it will change shift points when in use towing. Not sure I should believe them.
Etrailer is having my harness custom made for my car currently.
Any thoughts, comments on this.

Adding tow hitch and wiring V70-XC70 2008

This is the first I have heard of shift points changing when the trailer wires are plugged in. Is there tongue weight measuring device? Does it know that the trailer is empty or full and close to 5000lbs?

As for 2 hours to bury the wire from the battery to the electrical box and create an outlet from the trunk to the hitch? Is there an included lunch break? Time to drink a six pack? When you do it, it will take longer, of course, but that includes mounting the hitch on rusty bolts!

Actually, that would be a good future enhancement: Check the weight at all 4 shocks and the level of the road to determine the proper gear...

I found there answers quite puzzling, hence why I posted here for feedback. As far as the hitch is concerned, I have to remove the complete bumper assembly. Then remove the metal stamped bar from the rear of the car. Once off the I layout the hitch and put the metal bar over it. Then lift it to the rear of the car and use the new bolts that are supplied to install. Once that is installed then work on the harness. Total time is about 2 hours.
