2008 Volvo xc70 Liftgate issue V70-XC70 2008

Just recently my power tailgate is not working correctly. Wondering what I have to look at to fix it. And is it necessary to have volvo do any programming of it?

Tailgate locks and unlocks with the key fob - no problem there.
But when I go to the hatch release lever and press it to open the door does not move/open up. I have to manually open it.

When it comes time to close it, I hit the close button on the bottom of the tailgate and it closes.

That being said what next. Thanks.

I also have a '08 XC 70, 102K - my tailgate is acting up a bit - when I unlock the car, about once every 5 times, the latch does not work.

If I push the handle down a bit after it fails to work, it then works. I plan on trying to lube it. If it gets worse, I will dig into it.

You might try unlocking the car and opening the tailgate manually to see if you have a similar problem.

Reading your post again, evidently, your tailgate does not open manually.

I would look at the switch in the handle - an old timer once told me that Volvo's switches are a weak point in some of their systems. I have found this to be goos advice.

Sounds more like a defective switch at the tailgate than a software problem. I don't know how hard is is to remove panels and check the switch.

Keeping it running is better than buying new
