bypassing the heater core 850

Howdy all,
I have a '97 Volvo 850 that I'm getting ready to send to the scrap yard soon. One of items I'd like to remove for transferring to my new '97 Volvo 850 is the Heater core, since it's only about two years old.
I plan on keeping the old car drivable so I can still drop it off at the scrap yard.
Can I just remove the heater hoses from the firewall and connect them together with a short piece of Hose & 2 clamps ?
Seems simple enough.
Then I can remove the fairly new heater core from the car to use as a replacement for the new car's leaky core.

Thanks

Unless you drain about a quart of coolant from the radiator, you are going to get a lot of spillage. Correct, just connect the hoses together and all done.

The firewall connection is made with plastic clips, easy to remove.

I plan on using a couple of pinch-off pliers to minimize spillage.
Do you know what size hose would work to connect to two hose fittings together ? 5/8" hose ??

Thanks

Accessibility (reachable hose material) will rule the day.

I assume the set-up is the same as the V70. Disconnecting the hoses form the fire wall side will leave you with two couplers. You might just clip them off and employ an internal splice and two clamps or just fold over the rubber parts and clamp them somehow
