If you are serious and want the best for your vehicle, contact me at rpiescik@weareoil.com . Give me the year, make, model of the vehicle in question and I will give you a printout for your vehicle.

I have been using synthetic lubricants since the early 90's and have never looked back.
Have a great day!

Bob

Gotta chime in with the "there is no BEST oil" camp.

There are too many variables. Manufacturers spec-and better- are what you want. "Better" here means takes even higher temps or is rated for longer oil change intervals.

I use Mobil1 0W-40 European Formula. They tell me it's a "true synthetic" (group IV) made from polyalphaolifin compounds not hydro-cracked petroleum (group III)

It met the requirements for turbocharged engines in the family. It's so uniformly praised I just rolled into using it in my non-turboed V70's.

There is no "best" motor oil. For Volvos, using synthetic is the only option. The oil must meet engine specifications, listed in the owner's manual.

Keeping it running is better than buying new

Pete,
What oil or test facility did the Rankings?
Buying oil with other than a Brand name on the jug (mobile, castrol, etc),
might result in inconsistent additive packages and in turn expected performance. A non-oil producer, will buy various sources depending on market conditions. I do not know if re-processed used oil, if mixed into new oil has to be identified on the product.

Best review guides!
Ever heard of them...... me neither
I suppose if you change your oil every 3k or 5 with synthetic most brand oils will suffice.
