Purchasing a S60 2008 Model Year S60 2008

Looking at potentially purchasing a Volvo S60 with 100,000 Kilometers (60K Miles) on it.

It is a non turbo 5cyl (car is in Australia) with FWD Auto and is an LE model.

Just wondering what I should be looking out for, as it will be potentially for my son as his first car.

The 5 cylinder non turbo I believe are good longevity in mind.

Any help greatly appreciated.

The 5 cylinder is a good and durable engine. Ran my 95 850GLT to 251k (miles) before selling. If it has a weakness it is that the valve seals can leak at high mileage as mine did. Also the PCV system can clog. Regular synthetic oil changes are highly recommended.

Time to replace the air filter, cabin filter, and engine oil (only use synthetic). Dealers never change the brake fluid or the power steering fluid, I suggest doing both after 10 years.

If there is no maintenance history, take a look at the axle boots for cracks. Check the age of the tires, the year and week are stamped into the rubber close to the wheel.

If the seats are leather, a good cleaning/conditioner may be needed.

Check ALL of the electric features before purchasing: sun roof, windows, door locks, dash lights with the key in position II, etc.
