On my 2001 Volvo station wagon, the headlights only come on with high beams, both headlights only have high beam working.

Any thoughts on this one. I did cycle the headlight switch off and on.

If both bulbs were out, the bulb warning may not work as it compares one bulb with its mate.

I would check the relay that controls the high/low beams.

I would also check fuses.

Lastly the switch.

Swapping parts may not find the problem.

Compare the cost of a relay with an hour's labor to find the problem. Most dealers charge a maximum os one hour's labor to find a trouble. Subaru has the same standard.

My dealer occasionally offers a free evaluation with a written report, but this might only tell you what you already know.

And the orange Bulb failure warning sensor in the dash display should illuminate? It’s supposed to go on when either low beam bulb is out, warning the driver.

I did replace the one bulb, still does not work. The orange dashboard light indicating a headlight is out is NOT illuminated.

The high beams work - is there a fuse somewhere that could be an issue, I don't see one.
