Looking at 2012 xc70 with 3.2 i6...opinions please V70-XC70

My 2004 v70 is totaled and I'm looking at this 2012 with 116k miles. I've been cautioned about fuel economy but I don't know what to expect. What about reliability? Will I be as pleased with this car as my NA i5 fwd? The car seems to have everything I want.

By 2012, the mpg has improved for the I6. You will like this car after reviewing its maintenance history. Make sure you have the Haldex oil/filter changed for longevity, along with the brake fluid which the dealer never seems to have on its replacement schedule.

Better gear ratios. I don't remember if the 2012 came with a tranny dipstick, if not then a tranny flush can only be done on a lift as the car must be level when fluid is added. I assume a dealer will charge at least $350 for a flush.

We own a base model 2012 NA XC70 3.2 that we purchased new. It is only front wheel drive REALLY a base car, NO options. (How about $26,500?)

It has had NO repairs except for the right side puddle light fell out of the mirror twice. The low battery warning message has come on about 10 times even after a 75 mile trip to CT, but no issue has been found and we still have the original battery - the car has started on days when the temperature has been below zero.

The car has low mileage, 55K, and even the brakes are only half worn!

This car has taken 6 yearly trips from MA to MN fully loaded with my daughter's stuff and we have averaged about 27.5 MPG on the highway. 22 around town.

Our 2008 XC70, AWD, fully loaded gets 25 on the highway and 20 around town. It has 107K - it had a new vacuum pump, new brakes and tires when We bought it 6 years ago and it has not had any repairs either.

    Both cars are dealer maintained.

    AND - I feel lucky!
