I'm just realizing the s60 i'm buying has no spare...options? S60

I know I can buy one but do I really need it? If you have an s60 has the kit left you stranded? Will Volvo tow you for free?

I realize it has been a while since you posted your question, but have you considered going to a local "Pick-N-Pull" yard and checking the trunk of a similar year S60 for both the spare tire and the tool kit? Presume you could get out the door for less than $20 with the entire set. As a bonus, you would not have to take any tools with you or crawl around on the ground!

The 'kit' works fine for a slow puncture, but the tire guys will hate you for spraying in all the gunk.

Not only is the spare tire missing, so is the jack and lug wrench. Along with the tray that holds the spare in place.

Does Volvo offer free towing if you push the SOS button? Check with the dealer for time limits on that service, it may require an additional subscription. AAA costs about $60-100/year and uses local garages. Either of them will take a while to respond while you sit on the side of the road.

Which reminds me, I need to pump up one of my tires because of a very slow leak. Too lazy to bring it in to a garage to have it fixed.

Keeping it running is better than buying new

We have a 2018 S60I with no spare. The manual says you can purchase an optional spare but it’s presence in the trunk raises the floor and reduces the trunk volume. It’s a puny little trunk already. I’ve been wondering if a good machine shop could “section” a rim and weld it back together, creating a 3-1/2 or 4” wide rim that could have a super narrow high pressure donut tire mounted on it.

Check local Tire shops and see if they have either the Space Saver spare tire (frequently traded in when a customer upgrades to new wheels/tires) or a used rim and buy a good used tire as a spare.

At some point Car makers decided that an air pump in the trunk would suffice as an answer to a roadside flat...NOT!
