S60 radio and display out: disconnecting battery fixes S60

2012 S60, standard sound system. A few times a year the radio won’t come on, the screen is blank. It will not turn on. The only way I have found to get it working is to disconnect the battery. I’ve tried holding the on/off button down a long time, searching for a reset function, but that doesn’t work.

Any idea how to fix, or is there a secret reset key sequence to make the unit restart?

Rather than subjecting the entire car to power loss, try pulling the radio fuse instead. Make sure the fuse is in good shape. I don't know if the 2012 radio can be re-programmed or the code 'updated'.

Thanks, good idea to pull the fuse.

Pulling and reinstalling fuse 16 got it going, that is the fuse for the Infotainment Control Module. For reference 17 is the Infotainment Display and 18 is Infotainment System. So, the control module gets stuck. Don’t know what to do with that information but now I know.

I read on swedespeed there is a patch for this, though a while back I told sealer service person about it and they didn’t do anything. Maybe I didn’t explain it well, it wasn’t in failed state when I was there.

      Thanks again.

      Terry
