s70 cockeyed steering wheel S70

hi experts...

my beloved s70 is a 1999, 115000 miles.

While driving straight down the road, I noticed my steering wheel is not centered. In other words, its rotated about 20 degrees to the right as if I was rounding a right hand curve.

I checked the tie rods by looking for play and to my eye, they seem fine.

is this an alignment problem?

Yes, probably caused by a pot hole. My local alignment shop will let me know if something is bent and needs to be replaced before an alignment is done.

Makes sure that when you get the alignment done they centre the steering wheel properly first. Through laziness or ignorance not every shop automatically does so.

Good luck.
