Deeply concerned.... V70-XC70

I contacted a Volvo garage in my neck of the woods and learned they had a 2006 V70 base almost exactly like my 2007 except for the fact that it has a busted oil pan and $1,400 worth of scrapes (my estimate) along it's LR quarter panel.
Black, 105,000, nice white interior, $3,000 takes it away AFTER the fellow replaces the pan and driver's side mirror.
He guessed he'd have the car road worthy next week. I'll be taking it for a test drive.

I would have to sell my vehicle or it as I don't need two V70's and a wee truck. Yes, the '06 is that attractive.

My only concern would be regarding the engine running for a while after the oil drained out. Does it have 2 keys??

If he replaces the pan, will he also replace the O rings and clean the screen?

Found this in NJ for $4,000 without body damage:

You could probably talk him down to $3750 with out a problem. NY inspection 07/20.

Keeping it running is better than buying new

My motivation CAME from friends who expressed a solid interest in buying my current V70.
We've traded vehicles before. The common "car deal with a friend or neighbor" concerns don't exist here.

The seller, a Volvo mechanic, claimed to be the owner's mechanic for 8 years. He struck me as an honest man. His shop is what I think a shop should look like and his son appeared to have been raised properly.
We know that's all subjective but it's good when these attributes all point the right way.
      ....plus, the car is pretty.

However, I just learned that my friends decided 4WD or AWD has to be a feature on their next vehicle.
This is smart as their terrain does require it often.
Also, the camper trailer they want has gotten larger!

I am looking forward to test driving it. There's nothing wrong with getting to know another good tradesman. FYI: His name is Randall Automotive in Rensselaer, NY.

      When I go I'll bring a glove.

In my neck of the woods that would be a decent private party price for a '06 V70 base. The body damage would drop it lower, but offset by low mileage and a good service history - to the right buyer.

Play hardball on the price given the body damage and unknown condition of the engine; how long was it run after the catastrophic loss of oil? You'd be taking your chances on that.

Is your '07 on it's last legs? What makes the '06 so much more attractive than the car you already know/own?
