RADIATOR COOLING FAN - RUNS AFTER SHUT DOWN V70-XC70

2002 V70 T-5 - at times after shutting down the fan runs for about 10 minutes - but eventually stops.
Is this normal?

Car shows no signs of overheating - temp always where it should be.

Or should I be looking at a new thermostat housing assembly? Thanks

If a short fan of 10 minutes kills your battery, you probably need a new battery anyway.

After you shut your car off and the fan stops, the battery rests and sort of recovers a bit chemically.

RADIATOR COOLING FAN - RUNS AFTER SHUT DOWN V70-XC70

Normal AFAIK. My 2001 V70 2.4T would do that sometimes. A bit disconcerting to have the fan running on high like that, considering the potential for a drained battery.

Ever notice the interior HVAC fan doing the same thing? Like the car was possessed or something...

My 95 850 and 2002 Passat did that too.

It’s normal. It’s an electric fan. It only runs when necessary. If the engine is still hot when the engine is shut off it will continue to run until the engine cools sufficiently. You might be thinking about older cars (think 240) that have mechanical fans that are driven by the engine. So they run whenever the engine is running.
