2004 Volvo XC70 power steering pump loud - replaced X2 207K V70-XC70 2004

Pump was always a little loud over the past 100K miles, finally replaced it around 180K with a cheap carparts.com rebuild. Made same noise. Ordered slightly more expensive Rebuild (all cheap Mexican rebuilds), started out quiet but has gotten very loud over the last 6 months. Just ordered Bosch rebuilt unit.

What is the proper fluid? Been using volvo Power Steering fluid. Any other spec I should be trying?

Any way the rack could be eating pumps? Doesn't seem to leak any fluid.

Thanks for any suggestions..

Don't blame the rack, just the cheap rebuilds. I would also scour the junk yards for a replacement, not the pick&pulls as they have too many miles on them.

Pentosin CHF-11S is what I and many others use. It's a bit cheaper.
You might want to install an inline filter like a Magnafine or AC Delco # 89001369.
Try a junkyard for a Volvo pump if the Bosch konks out.
