Parking Brake Service Needed V70-XC70 2008

My wife's V70 3.2 started showing the Parking Brake Service message and flashing Parking Brake light.

I drove it and the PBs aren't stuck on so I suspect that it's either fuse 3 for ABS/Parking brake, or a failure in the PB actuator motors. I'll check the fuse this evening but has anyone run into this before? I have used a 9V battery to retract the PB motors during a brake R/R two years ago but now have a variable power supply I can use to provide the 12V needed to the motors.

Thanks,

Erwin

Without VIDA you never know which part is at fault. The individual motors may be OK and the module itself died. Unfortunately, replacing the $120 module requires "software". Stupid proprietary junk!

Do you know if the consumer version of VIDA Dice will suffice? I can pick one up on Ebay. Or the iCarSoft VOL V2.0 or V3.0? This model is for Volvo / Saab.

      Thanks,

The pirated Vida will tell you anything you want to know. It requires a PC and either Windows 7 or 10. You probably want a dedicated used lap top. It will not be able to update software!

The IcarSoft is standalone and also will not update software. According to IcarSoft, beware of cheap imitations.

A visit to a dealer costs about 1 hour of labor.

I bought the iCarsoft Vol 3.0. So far no luck. It will find the vin but nothing else. I get a link error or vehicle not supported. I’ll try again before returning it.
