1998 V70 cruise control not working V70-XC70 1998

Just got my V70 back from my daughter, who kept it running while she was away at school. 24 years old, 252K miles. Might as well keep it going, right? I know it doesn't matter, but I thought I would ask: the cruise control has stopped working. I thought it might be a fuse or something, but I cannot find any information about what might make this fail. Any thoughts?

The 1998 Cruise Control (CC) is a vacuum operated system. It's vacuum pump is attached to the bottom of the battery tray. There is a line from there to the brake pedal. The brake pedal has two switches, one for the brake lights and the other for the CC. In my 1998, the CC switch died. It was not fun to replace, being upside down under the dash with brittle plastic.

Remember, the 1998 CC is slow to function. You can push the switch in the light switch, but you need to hold it until the CC vacuum grabs the gas pedal.

Keeping it running is better than buying new
