Rear View Mirror remount S40-V40 2008

I need to remount the rearview mirror. The button is still attached to the mirror. How do I remove the button?
Can I just glue it as is back to the glass? Concerned about the weight if I do it this way.

    Did your mirror just fall off? Seems like a common thing. Try this link. Someone named SSHI had a solution:
