2002 V70 Turbo - clicking on passenger side door (near window controls) V70-XC70 2002

Hello BB friends:

This one should be easy. Wife's 2002 V70 Turbo (215 Kmiles) had issues with the windows/door controls. It started out with the electronic door lock not working (front passenger side), then continuous clicking noise near the window/door-lock controls (including blinking LEDs on the switches), then finally no window/door-lock action at all on that side (fuse probably blew), including missing outdoor temp reading on dashboard.

Any ideas? Do I need a new window/door-lock module? Big $$$?

Thanks.

Bernie

New or used door module. This was a common problem with the 2001-2003 cars.

Xemodex.com sells used DDM for $99, but you still have to go to a dealer for software.

You might want to check out the door wiring before ordering a new DDM:

The video the last page of above link is about removing the door from the car, but watch him unplug the electrics at about the 3 minute mark. BTW, when I removed the doors on my car, I rolled the window down so I had the frame to grab, and I also had a 5 gallon bucket to prop up the door. The door is very heavy.

    Have your dealer check it.

A few years ago some Toyotas had a recall for door fires - the occupants were also locked in the car!

Hello Brickboard friends. I ended taking the car to the dealer, who confirmed that it was indeed a faulty passenger door module (PDM) and that replacing it would cost $1k (no joke!).

So, I took the module out, and found the clicking relay. But not sure if the relay is bad, or something else is causing it not to operate properly. The E/L capacitors on the PCB all look good and measured ok (within typical tolerances). The PCB looks good otherwise.

Any ideas on what typically goes wrong with these modules? Is it the relay?

      Thanks.

      Bernie

Easier and MUCH cheaper to grab another module from the Pick 'n Pull. Robert DIY on YouTube would likely supply if that's not possible for you.

I'm thinking of replacing door module myself and having dealer reprogram to save a few hundred bucks. Thoughts?

      Thx.
