V70-T5 WANDERING IDLE AND STALLING V70-XC70

2002 V70 T5 2.3 L Automatic

Car starts - put it in reverse it stalls.

If I leave in park and try to hold revs at 2000 it wanders 500 - 3000 RPM the eventually the revs fall off and it stalls. If I try to rev above 3000 it resists and slowly drops off till it stalls.

Any ideas where to look?

Thanks

    An appointment with your dealer.

    Don't throw parts at it.

Paying one hour's labor is better than a lot of grief.

Yes, especially if you have done anything under the hood lately. Check all of the small vacuum hoses. Most of them are in plain sight but some are tucked away under the MAF area. They might have popped off or be split. If you are able to run a scan do that.

    Under the hood.

    Sorry, I couldn't resist.

So, it won't idle. That leaves everything open for question. You need gas, fuel, air in the right combination. Is the check engine light on? What error codes do you have?
