Noice in rear end V70-XC70

Xc70 with 150 miles 2011
Doing turns at low speed there is a noice that is happening more often from the rear end. I have a appointment in 5 days with a Volvo shop. Just wondering what it could be. The rear end was replaced @130 miles. The struts are probably original. The brakes are working like they should. Something is definitely wrong. Any lead are welcome

Noise in rear end V70-XC70

Hi PT,

Did they check for torn drive axle boots?
If one is torn there will likely be a ring of grease around it underneath.

Try again and hope Murphy is somewhere else this time.

Bill

Hi,

It may be the linings broke loose from the E-brake shoes.

See if your e-brake works.

Thx Bill
Emergency brake works ok. The noise is more of a banging that goes away when you are driving straight. Thinking maybe a broken strut. Is there a universal joint in the rear end?

Noice in rear end V70-XC70

Hi Pt,

Is your car AWD?
If so, look at the boots of the rear drive axles,
see if any boots have ruptured and thrown the grease out.
CV joints will fail quickly with no grease.

Bill
