Oil change mileage intervals V70-XC70

Just bought my 8 Volvo wagon-the last 3 xc-70. The new one with 70 k:)
Should I go 5k with full synthetic between oil changes?

Iff you plan on your first long oil change interval, check your oil level at least every 1000 miles.

Subaru made some engines that blew up before their first oil change.

At my son-in-law's dealer they had to test some of their new cars by filling them carefully and bringing them in again (I do not know how many miles) to check how much oil they burned.

My son-in-law, the top tech at the dealer had to re-ring several cars.

He won a reward from Subaru because he found a place to put a vice grip during reassembly because if one followed Subaru's instructions for reassembly the timing chain was noisy!

Depends on your driving habits. 5K changes for lots of short trips, 7K changes for highway miles.

If you change the oil filter and use full synthetic you can go 10k. Been doing that since new with my 2017 VW Alltrack. Burns zero oil at almost 100k miles. Some people do prefer shorter intervals like 7-8k. IMHO - changing full synthetic and filter every 5k is unnecessary. Full synthetic can actually go more than 10k between changes but I don’t push it.

However, you might consider using a shorter interval like 5k for your first synthetic change. It will probably be dirty if conventional oil was used by the previous owner.

I used to go 5k between changes using conventional oil on my 95 850. Then switched to longer intervals when I started using synthetic.
