Tail gate V70-XC70

2013 xc70-car doesn’t have the automatic option like my last xc. I am having trouble opening the tailgate. I have to play around with the latch sometimes for a minute to get the tailgate to open. I am guessing it works from a relay switch. Any imput would be appreciated to get this to work properly.

The shop had to take part of the passager side of the lower dash and front passenger seat to open the tail gate.once opened they replaced the micro switch inside the handle .$496.00:(

Hi Pete,

Yikes! 496 lashes!
Did the Volvo Boffins tell you why the key wouldn't release the latch?

Bill

Does your tailgate have a rubber switch or a metal flap to open it.

In our 2008 XC70, when the switch did not work, we had to flip the metal flap the wrong way, then try it the correct way and it would open.

If it is rubber covered, I do not have any advice.

Is the latch in proper adjustment - when we first got the car, the tailgate had a slight rattle - after it was adjusted, it worked better.
