Greetings, I am replacing the spark plugs on my 2005 XC70. I would like to avoid unnecessary expense. Should I also replace the coils, or is that on an as-needed basis?

How many miles are on your coils? Ignition coils are usually good for at least 100k miles. Plugs probably won’t last that long.…

If are economizing, you could wait on the coils until they go bad. Even do one at a time. Have you had a coil go bad before? You will know it for sure as the car will run like crap!!
