Observations After My First Oil Change V70-XC70 2012

Hello All: This spring I purchased a used Volvo XC 70 T6 with 97K miles. I just completed my first oil change and have a few questions about my observations during the oil change.
1. After I removed the engine underside splash guard, I noticed a few oil dribbles under the oil plug and on the adjacent turbo hose. The oil plug was tight, prior to removal. The crush washer looked like it was re-used. The OD of the washer had a few nicks in it.

2. Upon removing the oil filter cover. It was really, really tight. I thought I was going to crack it, but it finally screwed off fine. The exterior threads on the cap looked fine; no damage to the threads. After pulling out the oil filter, there were portions of the oil filters pleats that looked crushed. Is this normal? Did someone incorrectly install the filter? Afterwards I Installed a new Mann filter and cap O-ring. The cap installed fine and stopped rotation once snugged up.

What is the best type of car wax to use on the XC 70 body paint job; for winter, rain & snow ? I was surprised to discover the exterior car body and door panels are made of aluminum and plastic.

Look forward to your replies

You would have noticed any appreciable loss of oil in the months you have driven the car so I think you're okay on the plug. I assume you used a new washer.

On the filter, that doesn't sound right but you installed the new filter correctly so problem, if any, solved.

I would just advise you not to reinstall the sump plug before you remove the filter. The anti-drainback valve will release oil back into the sump and this could lead to overfilling if the plug is in place.
