Hi Robert,
Brickboard has been busted for months, and you're lucky to be able to login.
It's good to have a spare Fuel relay and RSR.
Before inserting a new relay, check each socket pin to see if it's tight.
Use a 1/4" male spade connector crimped onto a hunk of stiff solid copper wire, the stuff Romex is made out of. If the socket pin is loose it can be removed and carefully tightened or replaced. Dunno how hard it is to do that in your car, but the RWD cars it's not a big deal.
Beware the old bullet connectors, the type used for the RSR. The molded rubber
or silicone or whatever it is can fall apart and then the female pin is not held in position. Then you need to replace the Bullet pigtail.
Luckily you can get high quality pigtails from Dave Barton, go here:
https://www.prancingmoose.com/blackvinyl.html
He has the high quality parts needed for Volvo wiring, plus lots of help with
how-to's, I need to place an order with him for some bullet pigtails that
failed in my cruise control vac pump. I'll order some extras which are prudent to have in your supplies.
Get an 8 oz tube of Penetrox-A (about $16-19 at Ebay)
Use directly into female pins for relays, connectors, and lamp sockets.
In my 850 I replaced the fuel and RSR relays pro-actively and in less than a year the fuel relay started failing when it heated up, and would work again when it cooled down. I then scrapped that evil relay for a more expensive Stribel that behaved normally.
Good luck, Bill
PS: A "Heads Up" for Brickboard posters:
When completing my reply I clicked "Submit Message" and Brickboard
threw a "Timeout error page" Indicating the post did not get accepted.
I did not click "Submit Message" again to avoid the latest pox at Brickboard,
multiple duplicate posts.
After the error page, navigate back to the post to see that it's there in spite of the error page.
After clicking "Submit Message" wait for 20 or 30 seconds and then the server will show a new page. Someone might get a stop watch on this server delay and multiply the speed of light (186,000) times the lengthy delay in seconds to try to estimate what distance the round trip is.
Which planet is the server is on? I have my suspicions.
Let us pray.
