mystery problem 850 1994

this problem started about 4 days ago and does not happen all the time, but it wirries me.

i have installed a manual boost controller that bypasses the ECU(13-14psi), cone filter, and 2.5" cat-back bexhaust.

figured i should say anything and everything i have done to not leave anything to the imagination.

i was driving down the street one day and was in second gear, floored it just to hear the boost b/c i love the sound of it and let off about 4,500 rpms. at the same time i let off, i think it cut fuel off for just half a second, if that. that was the first time it had done that. i was unsure whether me letting off had caused the problem, or it was the car. the next night i did the same thing and just gunned it in second, again the same syptom, but i did not let off the gas so i know something was shutting down. but it did not stay off but for about half a second. it did it 2 other times that night and i have no tried it again. it only does it in second gear at 4,500 rpms. if i floor it from first to second, it will not happen. only if i am in second, and just go from there. no other gear has this problem. the stock boost guages needle is at the end of the white, but does not go off the white.

This problem has me very worried and would like to know what the hell is going on wiht my car. it has already sucked up all my money b/c i found out the last guy lied to me about a couple of things that he replaced, that were not done right or not at all.

i have a leaking oil return line, which is being fixed on friday. the guy said it had a new turbo in at 90k, but i am not sure whether i believe him or not.

the engine light is on for the first 3-4 minutes of running then cuts off, and that is being checked on friday also.

sorry for makinf this so long, but i just put down anything i could think of.

94 854 turbo. (193 hp, 230.1 ft/lbs) numbers are higher, but till i go back to the dyno, i am unsure.

Whats happening is that you are manually controlling the boost.. the ECU doesn't like this and tries to fight the boost controler to operate the wastegate. it can't, so the ecu cuts the fuel to prevent damage to the engine. Back off on the manual boost controller to a lower psi and it will clear up..
I myself just shortened the wastegate actuator rod and have had not trouble one with it.. it does the same thing as your manual boost controller, but allows the ecu to still operate the wastegate, therefore no shutting down..

the wastegate mod made me lose power, so i refuse to do that. this works most of the time.

well, i'm not saying to do the wastegate mod, i'm telling you what i did.. but if you want that cutting out to stop, you will have to back off the psi a bit or upgrade the ecu. and i would love to know how the wastegate mod made you lose power..

i would like to know too. but the dyno proved 15 hp and 15 ft/lbs loss over all with no low end gain
